Abstract
The isoelectric point of hemocyanins from Cancer and Homarus were determined by cataphoresis and found to be at p H 4.7 and the isoelectric point of hemocyanin from the snail at p H 5.3. The affinity of the pigment for 0 is maximum at either the isoelectric point or, alternatively, on the acid side of the isoelectric point corresponding to maximum ionization of the protein as cation. As the protein ionizes as anion its affinity for O decreases. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
