Abstract
The Kveim test is negative in Crohn''s syndrome, and skin-tests and precipitin reactions with extracts of Crohn''s tissue from other patients are negative in patients with this disease. A negative Mantoux test was found in 32/50 cases of Crohn''s syndrome; in cases with focal, sarcoid-like granuloma, 18/23 were negative, while those without focal granuloma were negative in 14/27 cases. Of 20 cases of ulcerative colitis, 11 were Mantoux negative, and incidence was unrelated to severity of the inflammation. Results indicate that tuberculosis, sarcoidosis and hypersensitivity reactions are not related to the etiology of Crohn''s syndrome. This publication has 11 references indexed in Scilit:
