Abstract
The excretion of aldosterone in the urine of healthy adult subjects was determined by a bioassay based on the Na excretion in adrenalectomized rats. The mean of 50 determinations of aldosterone excretion in 12 normal men was 3.2 [plus or minus] 1.6 [mu]g; and of 12 determinations in 5 normal women, 3.8 [plus or minus] 1.4 [mu]g/24 hours. There was considerable variation from day to day in the same individual. Six of 9 subjects showed a diurnal rhythm. In 5, an increased aldosterone excretion was associated with a stressful situation. Keywords
