Abstract
Histological and ultrastructural changes in the parathyroid glands of rabbits have been studied after four to eight hours of ozone inhalation at a dosage of 0.75 ppm. More frequent changes observed included production of large numbers of secretion granules, hyperplasia of the chief cells, proliferation and hypertrophy of rough endoplasmic reticulum, free ribosomes, mitochondria, Golgi complex, lipid bodies, and accumulation of secretion granules inside the vascular endothelium and the blood stream. Morphologic evidence is presented that ozone inhalation in rabbits profoundly influences the parathyroid gland. Keywords
