SERUM PROTEIN VARIATIONS IN MONKEYS

Abstract
The serum protein patterns of three different species of Macacus monkeys have been studied by means of starch gel electrophoresis. Several different benzidine staining patterns were observed in different species. No identity between the transferrin components of the three species was found. The ceruloplasmin of all primates studied shows no variations. It is concluded that there may be a phylogenetic trend so that lower primate groups have faster moving transferrins than higher primates.Keywords
