Abstract
On the grounds of classical mechanics a model is proposed to describe the above-threshold ionisation process. It is then applied to perform a numerical Monte-Carlo-like experiment. The resulting photoelectron energy spectrum is qualitatively consistent with the experimental data. A hypothesis is considered above the possible connection between the non-Coulombic character of the binding potential and the observed effects. Keywords
