Abstract
The classical dynamics of three identical charged particles is considered in describing the threshold behaviour of the double ionisation cross section. The method due to Vinkalns and Gailitis (1967), previously extended to the general case of single ionisation, is applied now to triple escape. Analytical results for the ionisation function near threshold, for electron impact on the arbitrarily charged target, are in perfect agreement with the semiclassical calculations of Klar and Schlecht (1976). The threshold behaviour of the deviation of the mutual angles from the symmetric configuration is also derived. Keywords
