Abstract
Expts. on bilaterally adrenalectomized dogs fed a diet of low Na and chloride content indicate that the daily subcut. inj. of 1 to 1.5 mg. of desoxy-corticosterone acetate (synthetic) dissolved in oil will maintain an animal weighing 10 kg. Withdrawal of treatment is followed by a prompt change in the renal excretion of electrolytes and the development of signs of adrenal insufficiency. Resumption of treatment corrects the altered electrolyte balance and restores the animal to normal health and vigor. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
