Abstract
The Essential oils of the fruit and leaves ofCitrus medica L. var. ethrog were examined by GC/MS and ninety-four constituents were identified. Limonene (81,-34%, 37.93%), geranial (4.24%, 8.22%), geraniol (0.24%, 6.21%), neral (2.55%, 5.11%) and nerol (0.22%, 4.83%) were found to be major constituents of both oils respectively. β-Ionone, although present in the peel oil at a low concentration, is thought to be responsible for the distinctive aroma of the Ethrog fruit. Keywords
