Abstract
Progestational proliferation of the rabbit endometrium in response to treatment with amphenone (3,3-bis(p-aminophenyl)-2-butanone) was prevented by adrenalectomy as well as cortisone administration although the progestational response to progesterone was unaltered by similar treatment. A modified Clauberg assay was used. The results indicate that amphenone exerts its progestational effect on the rabbit uterus by means of adrenal progestogens and suggest that inhibition of specific adreno-cortical enzyme systems leads to excess progestogen secretion. Keywords
