Abstract
Serial detns. of the plasma volume by the T-1824 dye method, the extracellular fluid by the thiocyanate method and the serum protein by the biuret method were performed in 5 hospitalized males without cardiovascular disease. When 1.2 mg. of digitoxin was administered intraven., a significant decrease in the serum protein concn. and an increase in the total circulating protein content was found to occur at 8 hrs. The results were interpreted as indicating an increase in the water and protein content of the vascular compartment. Keywords
