Abstract
Under the conditions used, a two-week assay period and with a diet containing 12% casein, the accumulation of liver lipid in the choline-deficient rat appears to be inversely related to the degree of unsaturation of the dietary fat. The composition of the fat, rather than the amount in the diet, was the major factor influencing the amount of liver lipid. The results obtained are, however, dependent upon the basal diet used and the duration of the experiment. The similarity of the conclusions reached in these studies with those relating dietary oils to serum cholesterol in man indicate that possibly similar factors are involved. Keywords
