Abstract
We present a method of calculating the band structure of layer compounds that combines the transmission and reflection matrices from individual atomic layers. The computing time increases linearly with the number of layers in the repeat unit, compared with for other methods, thus rendering the method suitable for layer compounds with complicated stacking sequences. Results for Mo are described.
