Abstract
Two projects, a reaction journal and a book review, were used to help create a connected classroom. In the connected classroom, the instructor acts as a facilitator rather than an authority and students are encouraged to draw from their own experiences and ideas. Data from open-ended and objective evaluations showed that these pedagogical strategies lead to more student involvement with course material and to higher overall course ratings. Keywords
