Abstract
The cytotoxic drimane derivatives cinnamodial (1), capsicodendrin, a partially characterized tetramer of 1, and cinnamosmolide were obtained from C. dinisii (Canellaceae). A new compound, 6.beta.-acetoxyisodrimenin and ugandensolide and futronolide were also isolated, but were not cytotoxic as determined by the human oral carcinoma 9 KB and mouse lymphocytic leukemia P388 systems. [Chloroform extracts of stem bark and leaf-twig samples of the South American arboreal species C. dinisii exhibited antitumor activity.].Keywords
