Abstract
Investigations were made on precipitating antibodies in various mammalian sera showing heterologous reaction with antihuman immune sera. The methods used were immunoelectro-phoresis and the preciptin ring test. Most of the sera showed precipitation of an [alpha]-globulin, usually an [alpha]2-globulin. The results of immunoelectrophoresis and precipitin ring test as applied to the heterologous precipitin reaction, showed no parallelism. The nature of the heterologous precipitin reaction, of the heterologous antigen in mammalian sera, and of the corresponding heterologous antibody are discussed.
