Abstract
All exptl. and control animals were adult 9 white mice, about 7 mos. old, weighing 22-28 g. Desoxycorticosterone was administered for 1 mo. to all groups except the group treated by intraperitoneal injn. (2 wks.). Kidneys, removed before death, were weighed fresh and after drying. After subcutaneous injns. of desoxycorticosterone acetate, dissolved in oil, the mean kidney wt. was significantly greater in 34 mice than in 35 controls; but this effect was not obtained after unilateral nephrectomy (29 exptl. animals, 33 controls). A relatively large dose given once intraperitoneally had little or no effect, nor did one sub-cut. injn. of the crystalline hormone in suspension, or one subcut. application of the crystalline hormone. No his-tologic differences were observed between the kidneys of hormone-treated and control animals. Keywords
