Abstract
Chronic fatigue is a phenomenon frequently experienced by patients with cancer. This article reviews the literature, paying particular attention to the nature, aetiology and effects of chronic fatigue on the patient. While many of the findings are interesting and relevant when planning care for a patient experiencing fatigue, there remains a lack of knowledge as to the aetiology. The research findings are inconsistent and therefore nursing practice cannot be guided by them. Keywords
