Abstract
In 1948, 2 applications of the following insecticides gave satisfactory control of a light to medium corn earworm infestation (listed in their order of effectiveness and showing pounds of toxicant per acre): 5% DDT dust, 2; 3% DDD dust, 1.2; 40% ryania dust, 16; 50% DDD (w.p.) spray, 1; 50% DDT (w.p.) spray, 1; 5% chlordan dust, 2; 40% chlordan spray, 1; 100% ryania spray, 4. A single dust application of 3% DDD dust gave effective control of a heavy earworm infestation in 1951, whereas 3% DDT, or 40% ryania, or ryania + synergist did not. Two applications of the same insecticide in 1952, however, failed to give any satisfactory control of a heavy earworm infestation. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
