Abstract
The effects of tree washes on populations of Psylla pyricola Foerster and fruit quality were examined. Handgun applications of tree washes removed pear psylla honeydew and reduced fruit russet. In addition, tree washes which contamed a wetting agent increased mortality of pear psylla nymphs. Tree washes applied by a speed sprayer were as effecttve as handgun washes in removing pear psylla honeydew. Tree washing holds promise as a tactic to be integrated with biological and chemical control to manage arthropod pests of pear in north central Washington. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
