Abstract
To the Editor: In his editorial in the March 11 issue of the Journal,1 Solomon states that measurement of the daily excretion of Bence Jones proteins can be used as an "objective index" of a patient's response to chemotherapy. In order to interpret a change in the excretion rate of kappa or lambda light chains, one must consider several factors. Myeloma globulins are cleared at rates consistent with their molecular size. Light-chain clearance can vary from 10 to 50 per cent of creatinine clearance.2 This variation in clearance may depend on the state of aggregation or disaggregation of . . .Keywords
