Liaison Germanium-Azote Steriquement Encombree - I: Germyldiamines et Cyclodigermazanes a Fort Encombrement Sterique

Abstract
A series of aryl- or alkyl- germyldiamines R2Ge(NHR')2 stabilized by steric hindrance was prepared by the reaction of sterically hindered aminolithium derivatives R'NHLi with dihalogermanes. The dilithium derivatives of these germyldiamines reacting with dihalogermanes allow the formation of sterically hindered cyclodigermazanes basically dimers of germa-imines. A limit to the steric hindrance was observed. When germanium is linked to two mesityl or phenyl groups and nitrogen to 2,4, 6-tri-tert-butyl phenyl, steric hindrance appears to be at a maximum so that cyclisation into cyclodigermazane does not occur.
