Abstract
Gonidial reproduction in Spirillum and Vibrio appears in 2 distinct forms. In one swellings containing small granules appear along the length of the Spirillum. The contained granules become free as tiny motile bacteria, which reproduce by fission and gradually grow into the parent organism. In other species the cycle is induced by penicillin, resembling in some respects the L-cycle. The gonidia in these cases are non-motile, and appear in tiny colonies. Keywords
