Abstract
Studies were carried out on embryonic rat fibroblasts in vitro in the presence of Myleran and the synthesis of nuclear protein and nucleolar protein was studied with the method of microinterferometry and cytophotometry after Feulgen reaction. Myleran produced a strong inhibition of the mitotic activity, and the appearance of cells with a higher concentration of total nucleoprotein as well as a higher concentration in DNA and nucleolar material. The increase in total nuclear protein appears to produce a simultaneous increase of the mass of the nucleolus but not necessarily of the synthesis of DNA.
