Overlapping10+and12+resonances nearEc.m.=18.5MeV inC12+C12

The confusing situation near $E_{\mathrm{c}.\mathrm{m}.\mathrm{}}=18.5\mathrm{}$ MeV in ${}_{}{}^{12}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{C}$ + ${}_{}{}^{12}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{C}$ can be understood as arising from the presence of overlapping ${10}^{+}$ and ${12}^{+}$ resonances, both of which are exhibited in ${}_{}{}^{12}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{C}({}_{}{}^{12}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{C},\alpha ){}_{}{}^{20}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{Ne}(\mathrm{g}.\mathrm{s}.\mathrm{})$. The presence of both in ${}_{}{}^{12}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{C}$(${}_{}{}^{12}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{C}$, ${}_{}{}^8{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{Be}$)${}_{}{}^{16}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{O}$(g.s.) has been previously reported by Fletcher et al.
