Abstract
Aqueous solutions of different concentrations were quickly frozen to liquid nitrogen temperature and the zero‐velocity Mössbauer transmission and differential thermoanalytical curves were measured simultaneously as the samples warmed up. The solutions segregated into two phases: one consisting of pure water (phase I), the other composed of ferrous perchlorate molecules and water molecules together (phase II). Phase II was a glasslike material which, above the glass transition temperature, behaved like a supercooled liquid and recrystallized near −80°C. The concentration dependence of the recrystallization was measured.
