Forward-Backward Asymmetry inπpInelastic Reactions

It is shown that the recently observed asymmetry between forward ${\pi }^{+}$ and backward ${\pi }^{-}$ in inelastic ${\pi }^{-}p$ interactions can be simply explained by kinematical considerations. The effect is a characteristic of the multiperipheral model, and a quantitative estimate is in excellent agreement with the data.
