Abstract
The internal bremsstrahlung (IB) spectrum, photon yield and IB energy per beta disintegration from 90Y have been measured in an energy range of 550 to 1990 keV with a scintillation spectrometer. Experimental results are compared with the presently available theoretical distributions of IB photons. It is pointed out that although some theoretical distributions consider a vector-axial vector interaction for beta decay it is necessary to incorporate the effects of nuclear Coulomb fields and detour transitions to the theory for a correct assessment. The existing theoretical situation does not allow any conclusions to be drawn regarding the contributions of detour transitions to the IB spectrum of 90Y.Keywords
