Abstract
Dosage of phenindione anticoagulants during short term treatment has been based on the Quick test using a saline dilution curve. Observations have also been made simultaneously on the results with the Quick test using an adsorbed plasma dilution curve, on the P and P test, the venous thrombotest and the thromboplastin generation test. During phenindione treatment the depression of coagulability represented by 10-30% activity is greatest with the Quick test using saline dilution curves and human brain thromboplastin, and least with the 10-30% thrombotest range. There is no evidence that any of the routine methods measure changes in blood "intrinsic" thromboplastin formation which occur during therapy with coumarin and indanedione drugs.
