Abstract
The isotropic and anisotropic magnetoresistance have been measured for dilute alloys of PdFe, PdCo, PdNi at low temperatures. Physically different effects dominate in each case. In PdFe there is a temperature-dependent negative magnetoresistance from the suppression of electron-magnon scattering. In PdNi there is a positive isotropic magnetoresistance due to the effect of the magnetic field on the magnitude of the Ni moments, plus an anisotropic magnetoresistance arising from local orbital moments in Ni sites. In PdCo there is a negative isotropic magnetoresistance associated with magnetising the sample. The authors suggest that this is due to non-ferromagnetic interactions between Co moments. Keywords
