Abstract
The rapid quantitative extraction of histamine (HO from rabbit blood can be achieved by electrodialysis with 3 chambered cells. The active substance in the cathode fluid, assayed on the guinea pig intestine strip and the cat blood pressure resembles Hi both in its pharmacological and physico-chemical properties. Values for whole blood ranged from 1.8-5.0 [gamma] per cc. The distr. of Hi in rabbit and dog blood was studied by differential centrifugalization and by sedimentation of diluted blood. Platelet vols. were detd. by the thrombocytocrit method of Van Allen. In rabbit blood 97-98% of the whole blood Hi occurred in the platelets, with about 2-3% in the plasma. In dog blood, the platelets possess 15% or less of the whole blood Hi.This publication has 9 references indexed in Scilit:
