Energy loss of low-energy 40Ca ions in carbon

Abstract
The energy loss of 40Ca in carbon at less than 335 keV energy has been measured by detecting the energy of Doppler‐shifted γ rays from recoiling Ca ions. The energy loss mechanism can best be described as 1.17 and 0.67 times the theoretical values for electronic and nuclear stopping, although the theoretical values also give acceptable fits to the data.
