Abstract
Presentation of CaseA 56-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of pain in the left calf.He was well until five weeks previously, when he noticed pain and swelling in the right calf and came to the hospital. Examination disclosed enlargement of the right calf and a positive Homans sign. A phlebogram (Fig. 1) showed multiple intraluminal defects within the deep veins in the right calf; the external iliac vein was patent. The hematocrit was 38 per cent.
