Abstract
Food manufacturers must ensure that the foods they produce satisfy customers′ demands; that the food is safe to eat; it is healthy and nutritious; it is of high quality and value for money; and increasingly, it must have built‐in convenience. These areas are addressed and some future developments in the food industry to satisfy these demands are assessed.Keywords
