Abstract
The observation that the serum cholesterol of rabbits on cholesterol-free diets falls in response to isocaloric substitution of unsaturated for saturated fats was confirmed. Unsaturated fats do not lower the serum cholesterol in the rabbit by influencing either cholesterol synthesis, excretion or degradation. Unsaturated fats may effect a redistribution cholesterol between serum and tissues. This publication has 24 references indexed in Scilit:
