Abstract
Many strains of Chondrococcus columnaris have been found to produce bacteriocins which are filterable, nontransmissible, and lethal for certain other strains of C. columnaris. The 134 strains of C. columnaris isolated during the summar of 1956 from fish of the Pacific Northwest were divided into 9 bacteriocin types on the basis of their sensitivity to 7 selected bacteriocins. Some correlation exists between resistance of the strains to specific bacteriocins and the antigenic nature of the organisms. Keywords
