Abstract
The epinephrine skin test is found to be a highly reproducible and sensitive biological assay for endotoxin. Although the chick embryo test can detect a smaller amount of endotoxin than the epinephrine skin test, the latter may be more suitable when large volumes of test material are available. Serotonin does not give false positive epinephrine skin tests in our hands. Circulating endotoxin can be detected in rabbits for several hours after intravenous administration of a lethal dose. Keywords
