Abstract
A study of 286 children chosen randomly from child health station sessions in a low income health district of New York City revealed a considerable prevalence of nutritional anemia among the children studied. Of these preschool children 54(18.9%), had hemoglobin levels below 10 g%; and of these, 44 (81.5%) were under 2 years of age. This pilot study suggests that there may be a significant prevalence of nutritional anemia among preschool children in low-income populations and that a more extensive investigation should be carried out to find cases and bring them to treatment. Keywords
