Abstract
A careful study of an oil found in large amounts in the proventriculus of the Fulmar petrel. It consists largely of a wax which is probably preened over the plumage to keep the bird dry. It is a rich source of vitamin A and also contains vitamin D. The colorimetric test with arsenious acid suggests that the liver fat of this bird contains 64 times as much vitamin A as cod-liver oil. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
