Abstract
Application of 3-5 gal. of the following formula to the trunk and scaffold limbs of large rough-barked apple trees showed considerable persistance of the residue: 4,6-dinitro-o-cresol 4 lbs., stove oil 10 gal., Na lauryl sulfate emulsifier 4 lbs., a penetrant containing I1/2 gal. each of ethylene glycol mono-butyl ether and trichloroethylene, and water to make 100 gal. of spray. Larvae of the codling moth (Carpocapsa porno-nella) cocooned under the rough bark were still being killed by the residue of this spray after 14 months. No injury to the trunks and scaffold branches was observed. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
