Abstract
Measurements of the optical absorption of BaO films at temperatures between 15°K and 370°C are reported. Four absorption peaks between 3.8 ev and 4.5 ev are found for measurements at liquid nitrogen temperature or below. At least the two strongest peaks are thought to be caused by exciton absorption. The sharpness of the structure is found to depend upon substrate temperature during evaporation and upon the temperature at which the optical measurements are made. Keywords
