Abstract
Summary: 3 Rhesus monkeys responded to immunization with pooled species specific serum and Freund's adjuvant with the production of antisera, which gave precipitations with selected, individual sera of Rhesus monkeys. One of these antisera has been found to contain an antiljody against low density lipoproteins (LDL). The other two contained an identical antibody directed against a hitherto not characterized α2,‐globulin. The anti‐LDL serum cross‐reacts with all tested human sera. The significance of these findings. which led to the discovery of two serum protein polymorphisms in the Rhesus monkey, is discussed.Résumé: Trois Maeaeus rhesus immunisés avec un sérum‐pool de la même espèce â l'aide de l'adjuvant de Freund, ont produit des immun‐sérumts précipitant avec des sérums de Macacus rhesus sélectionnés. L'un des immun‐sérums contient des anticorps anti‐LDL (Low Deusity Lipoprotein), les deux autres, qni se comportent de façon identique, des anticorps contre une α2‐globuline pas encore identifiée. L'immun‐sérum contenant les anticorps anti‐LDI. donne des précipitations croisées avec tous les sérums humains mis à l'épreuve. Les différents aspects de ces investigations, par lesquelles au moins deux groupes sériques ont été mis en évidence chez le Macaeus rhesus. sont discutés.Zusammenfassung: Durch Immunisierung mit gepooltem arteigenem Serum und Freundschem Adjuvans wurden bei drei Rhesusaffen Immunseren gewonnen, welche mit ausgewählten. intlividuellen Rhesusaffenseren präzipitierten. Das eine Immunserum enthielt Anti‐LDL‐(Low Density Lipoprotein)‐Antikörper, die beiden andern Immunseren einen unter sich identischen Antikörper gegen ein bisher nicht näher charakterisiertes α2,‐Globulin. Das Anti‐LDL‐Serum kreuzpräzipitierte mit allen getesteten Humanseren. Die Bedeutung dieser Isn‐lmmunisierungsversuche, durch welche zwei Serumproteinpolymorphismen beim Rheausaffen dargestellt werden konnten. wird diskutiert.
