Orientation of Ar(3P2) atoms by laser optical pumping

Abstract
A beam of argon metastable atoms with a high degree of electron‐spin polarization has been produced by optical pumping using an Oxazine 750 dye laser. The beam is suitable for the study of electron spin and orbital orientation dependences in a variety of collision processes.Keywords
