Abstract
Bacillus subtilis α‐amylase was cleaved with cyanogen bromide and the amino terminal sequences of the purified products were determined. The molecular weights of the cyanogen bromide fragments were ascertained on an agarose column equilibrated with 6m guanidine hydrochloride. The molecular weights of these fragments were also calculated from their amino acid compositions. The data obtained by these methods concurred and established the molecular weight of the enzyme monomer as 48,000.Keywords
