Abstract
The effect of the space charge at the contacts on the low‐frequency dispersion of the electrical properties of ice is theoretically investigated. It is shown that in general case there are four characteristic frequencies related to four Maxwell relaxation times of four partial conductances of defects. The real part of the dielectric permittivity has dispersion “steps” at characteristic frequencies. An analysis of the step heights and their position in the dielectric spectrum gives valuable information on concentrations and mobilities of charge carriers in ice. Keywords
