Abstract
The ground state of hydrogen in a magnetic field has been analyzed using the finite-element method. Accurate values for the binding energy have been obtained for fields up to G. Unlike other approaches, the computational effort required to obtain converged results is independent of the strength of the magnetic field. Values obtained for the lower bounds on the binding energy at very high fields are the most accurate to date.
