Abstract
It has been shown, contrary to the results of Beavan and Brown (Biochem. Jour. 45: 221-224, 1949), that B. fulva produces pectin esterase and polygalacturonase. It is suggested that the results of Beavan and Brown were due to the low activity of their enzyme prepns., which made the detection of pectin esterase and polygalacturonase very difficult by the methods they used. Keywords
