Abstract
The development of silicon microstrip detectors for high luminosity application at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is described. The technical choices are most severely restricted by the anticipated radiation damage. The choice of single-sided n-side detectors as baseline detectors for the silicon tracker SCT of the LHC detector ATLAS is discussed. Keywords
