Abstract
The recent development of hybridoma technology has made it possible to obtain large quantities of antibody against a single determinant (monoclonal antibodies). This review describes the history of hybridoma technology and the method of producing monoclonal antibodies. It examines the role of such antibodies in diagnosis, tissue typing, histochemistry, developmental biology and study and treatment of diseases, including cancer, emphasizing the work being done on urological diseases. Keywords
