Abstract
The authors discuss the results of expts. performed in their own laboratory to test the influence of O2 tension, reducing compounds, sulfhydryl compounds, OH compounds, carboxylic acids, amino acids, and glucose, and combinations of some of these in protecting Escherichia coli against X-irradiation. They refer also to the effect of temp. upon recovery from radiation damage, and the effect of X-radiation upon respiration. Keywords
